Can Money Buy Happiness?

To me. happiness is being with people I love and listening to music I love. Watching little birds play and eat rice in my balcony makes me really happy. This brings me to my topic, can money buy happiness?

What is happiness and what is money,

One is a state of mind, the other a physical reality.

Happiness is the pleasant positive emotion,

Which makes one forget all problems and commotion.

Money is the medium of exchange in today’s world,

It gets you cars, money, food I've heard.

So like this, does it also get delight?

Well, cavemen are confused who didn't have any money in sight.

Hence proved happiness can’t be bought with money.

But we’re not really cavemen today, are we?

A roof, clothes, some bread and even water clean,

Money can buy you literally everything.

People with money have all that they need,

Making them content and merry indeed.

So this doesn’t mean people who don’t have money are sad. They are happy too. Happiness has a different definition for all of us, and while some forms of joy might be attainable monetarily, some are only engendered by our thoughts, efforts, environment and the people around us.

Money alone does not ensure happiness,

Many more factors build your experience,

Countries like Bhutan and Denmark which aren’t very rich,

They are according to world indices happiest without a glitch.

For happiness is a state of mind,

Look outside or within you, and a lot you would find,

Even if you would have huge money bags,

At the end of the day, if you’re not positive, you will be just greedy and sad.

That also does not mean that the rich are gloomy,

They too find their own reasons to be smiling and cheery.

For money is a medium of exchange, yes,

But happiness has routes endless.

If money doesn’t guarantee content, what can get?

For me, being with people who care about me even when I fret Money is not the one thing that decides your joy. While it does help you avail a lot of things that provide happiness, and yes it is needed to survive, money alone does not guarantee you a happy life. You create your own happiness. Enjoying all the little things in life without worrying about anything else, being healthy, dancing in the unseasonal rain, flying a kite after ages with your sister, video calls with family members and busy friends... That is something that this lockdown taught us. When we did not have our general means to spend money like going out to restaurants or for shopping or for travel, we turned the spotlight inward.

During his lockdown, happiness got a new meaning for many, With activities that practically didn’t cost a penny. Cooking, art, music, dance, coding everyone discovered their own space And uplifted each other with encouragement, support and praise, Money may buy happiness or not,

It depends on what makes you happy a lot.

After all, you are responsible for your happiness

You chart the story of your success,

And if I could make you smile in your reading time,

I have proved my point and you’re happy without spending a dime.
